February Board Meeting

Location: Council Grove Pizza Hut

Date/Time: February 7, 2008 at 6:30 pm

Members present: Travis Richardson, JimmyWatson,Jr., Dale Everett, Trent Siegle, Karen Vondemkamp, John Paul, Tyson Powell

President Trent Siegle called the meeting to order. The first item of business was to sign a thank you note to Penny and Kyle Hickman for the donation of the riding lawn mower to the club. The club paid for repairs to the mower in the amount of $106.01 to Ken's Engine and the mower is in good repair for the upcoming season.

New items of business included discussion of whether to continue the policy of allowing members who help with the set up and/or tear down of targets to shoot for free at the shoot. It was decided that this was a practice that need to continue in order to encourage members to help.

Discussion was conducted about setting a regular day and time for the membershoots. It was decided that perhaps after the Saturday shoot on each of our weekends we could hold a special shoot for members only.

Also discussed was the need to order more shirts and hats for the upcoming season. Perhaps visors and hats in camo and black as well as camo shirts and more youth shirts are needed. Also discussed was ordering a new sign in yellow and black saying "CG Archery Shoot Today" from Red Bud Design. Trent will contact Red Bud about these items as well as coozies with the logo.

Concern about finding organizations to run the concessions at each shoot was also discussed. Karen will look into placing an ad in the local paper as well as possibly in the tricounty telephone and shopper circulars.

Travis brought up the idea of entering a float in this year's Washunga Day's Parade as advertisement. He is to head up a committee to put together an idea.

Discussion was brought up about possibly auctioning off the old inserts. This was tabled for further discussion at a later date.

A work day was scheduled for 2 pm on Saturday, March 8th. Items needing attention include a dead bolt installed on the storage building door, clearing the lanes of limbs from the recent ice storm, possibly burning portions of the range (burning permit may be required), and the repainting and care of the stakes (stenciling the numbers on instead of using stickers). Also the construction and hanging of 2 by 4's along the paths to serve a bow hangers with either hooks or galvanized nails was discussed.

Karen is to look into possibly buying a dry erase board similar to that at the Council Grove Country Club with advertisements along the side to use for the posting of scores, etc. She will also check on the status of the insurance policy and the filing of taxes due to the tax exempt status.

Discussion was conducted about the need for a range captain to check at each shoot for safety and maximum yardages. This person could shoot for no score at the shoot.

Karen would check on the plaques and medals needed for the first shoot.

Those that had not already done so, signed up to run shoots throughout the season.

The meeting was adjourned.
